Smile

I think the stingray is a very elegant, beautiful fish. But also very photogenic: they always seem to smile!

Utrecht

This photos where taken in Utrecht which is located in the center of Holland.  I took them from a bridge over the main canal in the center of the city. The difference between the canals in Utrecht and, for example, Amsterdam is the presence of a terrace area on the same level as the water. Normally the canals are surrounded by a wall. For me this makes Utrecht more appealing then Amsterdam. The photos contain all the typical Dutch ingredients: bicycles, boat, canal, bridge and the historic canal houses.

During processing of the photos i took out the colours, except the red tones of the walls, road and tree to create this special look.

Elephants in black and white

I prefer colour photography above black and white. For me the colours make the photo alive, especially for animals, landscapes and nature. But i have tried something different with the following photos. They are converted to black and white combined with a little sepia creating an old look.

The elephant is perfectly suited for this look. Maybe because they are already grey, but mostly because of their wrinkles creating an even older look.

The black and white has the power to let you look deep into image, a good one can gives caracter and strength to a photo.
I like a lot this serie Patrick, good choice in the postprocess and fantastic photos!!

Santiago details

Between all wildlife and nature photos, another small series from Santiago de Compostela.

Santiago is such a nice city to discover. Walking and looking around in the old centre, you can find many nice details. For the people who are familiar in Santiago, i leave it up to you to guess the various locations.
